The high negative oxidation reduction potential (ORP) of the alkali salts in Bentonite Clay promotes the flushing out of free radicals and reactive oxygen species (ROS), making it an excellent anti-ageing natural clay. However, people with sensitive skin should do a hypersentitivity patch test before using, as it is not recommended for those with very sensitive skin. Instead, it is advisable for people with sensitive skin to use Fuller's Earth or French Pink Clay (Rose clay) or French Green Clay (Montemorillonite Clay).
Bentonite clay is great for Deep Pore Cleansing in very Oily, Blackhead-prone skin, but it is not recommended for individuals with very sensitive skin. If they must use it, they should conduct a Hypersensitivity Patch Test.
Calcium Bentonite Clay has predominantly Hydrated Calcium silicates and works on the principle of Adsorption. It is the most commonly-found clay, originating from volcanic ash. When mixed with water, Calcium Bentonite Clay swells, causing its molecules to get charged. This charge helps the clay to pull out toxins from the pores and cling to them magnetically.
In contrast, Calcium Bentonite Clay and Fuller's Earth are almost the same, but the only difference is that Calcium Bentonite Clay has Hydrated Calcium Silicates, while Fullers Earth has Hydrated Aluminium Silicates.
